FROG RX GSM / GPRS Print E-mail

Like its namesake FROG is an unobtrusive friend that sits quietly keeping an eye on things, ready to leap into action when there is imminent danger.

The Isodaq FROG is our new IP68 GPRS telemetry logger

FROG RX operates either as a standalone battery-powered data logger or as a telemetry logger.

An internal GSM/GPRS modem is built onto the main logger board to provide all the functionality expected of a telemetry logger designed for alarm monitoring applications - harsh environments where installation costs need to be minimised.

It is supplied with either integral antennae or an antennae socket if external high-gain antenna are to be fitted.

The ruggedised, low cost IP68 device is designed to fit inside a 100mm (4ins) tube. It is particularly targeted at hydrometric monitoring including riverside tubes and groundwater level monitoring in boreholes. View enclosure options here.

It even fits under small meter-box covers with no need to provide large secondary enclosures, or clamped to a pole or lamppost. FROG shares the some proven hardware and software platform with the Hawk range but with fewer input options.

Key features:

  • Designed for unattended operation in harsh environments
  • Fully waterproofed to IP68 to withstand submersion
  • Choice of 4 x alkaline D cells or long-life lithium cells
  • Field-replaceable batteries
  • Wiring option external lead-acid battery
  • Internal breather-bag for vented depth pressure sensors.

Typical sensor inputs and applications:

  • Tipping-bucket rain-gauges or frequency count flow-meters
  • Depth / level monitoring via pressure sensors
  • SDI-12 compatible multi-channel expansion port for 'smart sensors' such as:
    • Impress depth pressure sensors
    • Vaisala WXT520 weather transmitter
    • Mace FloPro series Doppler flow-meter
    • TRDi ChannelMaster H-ADCP flow meter
    • Range of water quality multi-parameter probes.

Features exclusive to the GSM/GPRS telemetry version:

  • Potential for ultra-low cost telemetry installations with no secondary enclosure required
  • Special top-hat cap for ease of installation of unit integral antennae in 100mm tubes
  • Automated check-in with data transfer
  • Up to four alarm set points per channel, hysteresis and filtering plus rainfall intensity alarms
  • Choice of communication protocols supporting:
    • DNP3 protocols for integration via GSM communications into existing SCADA systems or telemetry servers
    • GPRS protocols using the Pre-pay timeview browser-based GPRS data capture and display application
    • GPRS protocols for integration with OEM data acquisition systems.
